TV CAMPAIGN | CREATIVE BRIEF

The holiday you never knew you wanted.

The Art of the Journey.

There are people who love discovering the world. Curious, independent, experienced travellers who are happy to spend more on holidays that offer something special.

They've flown around Europe. Perhaps they've cruised. They love great places, fascinating stories and new experiences.

But a coach holiday?

It's probably not at the top of their list.

They picture long journeys, rigid itineraries, large groups. Something more suited to a different kind of traveller.

The experience has changed. The perception hasn't.

And that's our opportunity.

01. The ambition

Make Leger the first name people think of for premium European coach touring.

Leger already offers an experience that challenges traditional perceptions of coach holidays, particularly through its Luxuria and new Lumina coaches.

Now it wants to attract more affluent travellers, encourage higher-value bookings and establish clear distance from value-led operators such as Shearings.

This isn't simply about getting more people onto coaches.

It's about making a different kind of traveller actively want the experience Leger offers.

02. The audience

Affluent, curious, independent-minded travellers aged approximately 50–70.

They're interested in the world and willing to pay for quality. They enjoy discovery and appreciate having things thoughtfully organised, but they don't want to sacrifice their independence.

Some already enjoy organised holidays. Others might choose a cruise, a flight or an independent European trip.

They don't necessarily reject coach travel. They simply haven't imagined it offering the kind of holiday they want.

We also need to bring existing Leger customers with us, reinforcing their confidence in a brand they already know and enjoy.

03. The problem

People think they know what a coach holiday is. They don't know what Leger can be.

What the research shows

62.8%

Worry about spending too long on a coach.

51.1%

Are concerned about comfort.

45.3%

Fear a holiday that's too structured.

Yet when people see Leger's premium coach interiors, their assumptions begin to change.

The problem isn't simply a lack of awareness. It's a lack of understanding of what modern premium coach touring can offer.

We need to replace an outdated picture with something they genuinely desire.

04. The human tension

I want someone to organise an extraordinary holiday. I don't want to feel organised.

Discovery without the logistical headaches.

Expertise without being lectured.

Companionship without obligation.

Comfort without compromise.

They like the idea of a carefully planned journey, but don't want to feel they're being shepherded around.

They want the freedom to enjoy themselves, knowing someone else has thought everything through.

That's the balance Leger can offer.

05. The single-minded proposition

With Leger, getting there is part of the pleasure of being there.

An arched lakeside promenade in warm evening light

Not simply a more comfortable way to reach Europe's most remarkable destinations, but a different way to experience everything between them.

The changing landscapes. The unexpected stops. The stories behind the places. The pleasure of travelling through Europe rather than flying over it.

The journey isn't time lost on the way to the holiday. It's part of what makes the holiday extraordinary.

06. Why believe it?

Leger has genuine product advantages that make this promise credible.

Premium coaches.

Luxuria and Lumina offer exceptional space, comfort and design, with Lumina introducing panoramic views and an intimate 27-guest experience.

Expert hosting.

Knowledgeable Hosts who enrich the journey, anticipate what people need and know when to step back.

Remarkable itineraries.

European journeys that combine iconic destinations with hidden gems, local stories and discoveries.

Space for the individual.

Thoughtfully planned tours with opportunities for free time and independent exploration.

These aren't simply features to communicate.

They're the ingredients of an experience people don't yet associate with coach travel.

07. The creative challenge

Make people envy the journey, not just the destination.

There's a difference between making something look premium and making it desirable.

An impressive interior proves the quality. A comfortable seat answers an objection.

Neither necessarily makes someone want to be there.

We need to go further.

We want a compelling TV advertising idea that brings The Art of the Journey to life.

Something that surprises people, overturns an assumption or reveals an unexpected pleasure.

An idea with a memorable human truth, a distinctive creative device or a moment that stays with you.

Not simply a product demonstration.

Not another montage of beautiful European destinations.

Not a generic luxury travel advert.

“I had no idea a coach holiday could be like that.”

I want to be there.

Give us something only Leger could credibly own.

08. The creative guardrails

Premium, without pretension.

The quality should be evident in the experience, rather than asserted through claims of luxury.

The coach interiors are powerful proof, but the passenger experience should be the hero.

Show curious, capable, independent people choosing to travel this way. Avoid stereotypes of older travellers or groups being herded around.

The product must remain believable. Leger offers premium onboard travel, not necessarily five-star hotels. It offers a thoughtfully planned itinerary with opportunities for freedom, not the ability to set your own schedule.

The content should feel warm, contemporary, confident and distinctive.

And it must remain recognisably Leger, bringing existing customers along while attracting new ones.

09. What we're asking you to create

One big idea that can travel.

Create a flagship TV advert with a strong central idea that can also be developed into shorter films and content for YouTube, social media and other digital channels.

We want a recognisable creative platform that can build over the next three to four years, not just a single beautiful film.

The campaign should establish a distinctive world for Leger, with the flexibility to showcase different journeys, destinations and experiences over time.

10. What success looks like

Changing perceptions. Creating desire. Growing value.

More affluent travellers understanding what Leger offers.

More people actively considering a holiday they might previously have overlooked.

More customers willing to pay for Leger's premium experiences.

And existing customers feeling even more confident in the brand they've chosen.

Ultimately, commercial success means higher average booking values, supported by stronger brand understanding and consideration.

INITIAL CREATIVE EXPLORATION

Three territories worth exploring.

Three different ways to overturn expectations and make the journey something people want to experience.

These are creative starting points, not finished campaign concepts.

Territory 01 · Premium misdirection

The Private Jet

A hand holding a glass of gin and tonic, light glinting through the ice
Sunlight bouncing off polished curved metal

Reference imagery Luxuria · Lumina

At first, we think we're watching an advert for an exclusive private jet. Beautiful close-ups of luxurious seating. Polished details. A drink being served. Attentive service. A passenger gazing through the glass.

Then the camera pulls back.

It's not a private jet. It's a Leger coach travelling through spectacular European scenery.

And unlike a private jet, the world isn't passing invisibly thousands of feet below. It's right there, unfolding around you.

The reveal

First class. With a much better view.

Voiceover

“Travel like this is closer than you think. Collected from your door. No airport queues. No stress. Just the journey.”

Why it's interesting

A memorable reveal that challenges assumptions about coach travel and elevates perceptions of Leger's premium experience. The key isn't simply to make the coach look expensive - it's to make people envy the experience before discovering what it is.

Visual direction

Cinematic close-ups, dramatic lighting, beautiful upholstery and metallic details, drawn from genuine Lumina and Luxuria imagery - particularly the panoramic roof - before a striking reveal of the coach travelling through Europe. The film must never imply Leger provides private aviation services or airport-style privileges.

Territory 02 · Sensory storytelling

The Journey Has Its Own Soundtrack

Travel has a familiar soundtrack. Airport announcements. Rolling suitcases. Security trays. Boarding calls. The constant urgency of getting somewhere.

Then everything changes.

The soundtrack we know

  • Airport announcements.
  • Rolling suitcases.
  • Security trays.
  • Boarding calls.
  • Queues.

The soundtrack we're after

  • A cup gently placed down.
  • A quiet laugh.
  • The soft rustle of a newspaper.
  • A Host sharing a fascinating detail about somewhere they're passing.
  • A European village going about its day.
A woman reading quietly at a piazza cafe as the village goes about its day

For once, travel doesn't feel like something to get through. It feels like something to savour.

Travel differently. Feel differently.

Why it's interesting

Rather than just showing how different Leger looks, we make audiences experience how different the journey feels. Sound becomes the distinctive creative device - the contrast creates emotion, atmosphere and an advert that's instantly recognisable.

Visual direction

A striking contrast between the frenetic pace of conventional travel and the calm pleasure of travelling with Leger. Sound design is central to the concept, carried by an elegant, restrained typographic treatment of its cues.

Territory 03 · A different perspective on Europe

What You Miss at 35,000 Feet

A detached view of a cloud layer from an aeroplane window

The view at 35,000 feet.

We see the view from an aeroplane window. Clouds. More clouds.

Then we discover everything happening thousands of feet below.

A winding Alpine road.

A beautiful village.

A hidden restaurant.

A breathtaking valley.

A winding Alpine road and village seen from a coach window at golden hour
An Italian lakeside town seen through a coach window in late afternoon sun
A mountain peak filling the glass panoramic roof of the Lumina coach

There's a whole world between departure and arrival.

Because sometimes, the extraordinary things aren't just waiting at your destination. They're happening all along the way.

Why it's interesting

A compelling reason to travel by land rather than air. Not just avoiding the frustrations of flying, but everything you gain by choosing a different way to experience Europe - a long-term campaign platform with room for endless executions.

Visual direction

The most expansive treatment of the three: the distant, detached view from the air, contrasted with rich, immersive ground-level photography of Europe - Alpine roads, villages, markets and unexpected encounters, full of discovery.

Three different ways to change perceptions

01The Private JetSurprise them.
02The Journey Has Its Own SoundtrackMake them feel it.
03What You Miss at 35,000 FeetShow them what they've been missing.

Different ideas. One ambition.

We're not just trying to convince people coach travel has improved.

We're trying to make them feel they're missing out.

The Art of the Journey.
